# Vasari Corridor - visiting the Vasari Corridor in Florence, Italy > An independent guide to the Vasari Corridor, the covered passage the Medici > built in 1565 from the Uffizi over the Ponte Vecchio to the Boboli Gardens and > Palazzo Pitti. It reopened on 21 December 2024. Two things most pages get wrong. > The official ticket is 47 euros booked ahead and already includes the Uffizi, so > the corridor itself adds 18 euros; a Friday evening corridor-only ticket is 24. > And nobody gives you a guided tour inside it: museum staff escort every group and > tour operators say their guides may not explain in the corridor. A tour buys you > a guide in the Uffizi and a slot you could not get yourself. The Uffizi alone is 29 / 25 euros. The 5-day PassePartout with the corridor is 58 euros. Holders of an existing Uffizi ticket or pass add the corridor for 20 euros. - Daytime visits run Tuesday to Sunday. The first group enters at 10.15 and the last group leaves at 4.45 pm. Groups are 25 visitors plus two museum staff. Reservation is required for everyone, tickets are named and checked against photo ID, and no more than 5 tickets can be bought in one transaction. - The combined ticket lets you into the Uffizi two hours before your corridor slot. The meeting point is Room D19 on the first floor; the museum says it takes about 45 minutes to walk there from the entrance. Be there 5 minutes before the slot or you lose it. - The walk is one-way, Uffizi to Boboli, about 1 km plus 100 m to the Pitti courtyard, and lasts about 45 minutes in the day (about 35 minutes on Friday evenings). You cannot go back into the Uffizi afterwards. Visitors may not linger. - From 3 July to 20 November 2026 the corridor also opens every Friday 7 pm to 11 pm, last entry 9.50 pm, on a corridor-only ticket: 24 euros ahead, 20 euros on the day. It passes through the gallery but does not allow a visit. - On the first Sunday of the month (free state-museum day) the corridor is open only to visitors who reserved online, at no extra cost, while slots last. - Museum staff accompany every group but are not tour guides. Several tour operators state that guides are not permitted to give explanations inside the corridor, so the walk is effectively unguided on every tour. - Built for Cosimo I de' Medici by Giorgio Vasari in 1565, in about five months, for the wedding of his son Francesco to Joanna of Austria. It crosses the Ponte Vecchio, bends around the Mannelli Tower and passes a balcony inside the church of Santa Felicita. - It is bare by design after the 2024 restoration (about 10 million euros). The self-portrait collection that hung there from the 1970s to 2016 is not back. Since July 2025 more than fifty Roman portrait busts line the section above the Ponte Vecchio. It has 73 windows; the wide panoramic ones over the bridge are widely reported to date from Hitler's visit with Mussolini in May 1938. - Backpacks, rucksacks, suitcases and large umbrellas are not allowed in the corridor; anything left in the Uffizi cloakroom has to be collected by walking back round by road afterwards. ## Whether to book the official ticket or a tour If the official site has a slot on your date, book it: 47 euros covers the Uffizi and the corridor, and on a Friday evening the corridor alone is 24. Pay for a tour for two reasons only: you want a guide for the paintings in the Uffizi beforehand, or the official slots for your dates are gone. Do not pay extra expecting commentary inside the corridor; there usually is none. On listings that say the corridor is optional, the from-price usually excludes it. ## Bookable tours listed on this site All booking links are GetYourGuide affiliate links (partner ID 7GG5I5H). The site earns a commission at no extra cost to the reader, and says so on every page and at https://vasaricorridor.florence.it/affiliate-disclosure/. Prices below were read from GetYourGuide on 5 October 2026 in euros, per person. On the two listings marked optional, the from-price is the option without the corridor; the corridor option cost roughly half as much again on the date we checked. Prices are 'from' prices in EUR at the last build and move. - Uffizi Small Group Tour + Optional Vasari Corridor Access - from 44 per person, rated 4.6 from 144 reviews (Cheapest guide). Boboli is not included. ## Corrections to claims found elsewhere - The corridor is open again; it reopened on 21 December 2024 after closing in 2016. - You do not need a tour; anyone can book the official Uffizi + Vasari Corridor ticket. - The 47 euro ticket is not for the corridor alone; it includes the Uffizi. - A guided tour does not mean a guided corridor; staff escort the group and guides generally may not explain inside. - The self-portrait collection is no longer in the corridor. - You cannot walk it in either direction; it runs one way, Uffizi to Boboli. - It is not free to wander; groups of 25 move together with museum staff. - It is not open on Mondays, even on special open days. ## Author and provenance Chiara Benvenuti, Art history writer, Florence, based in Florence, Italy.
