Tickets are named, and you need a photo ID whose name matches the one on the ticket. It is checked when you enter the Uffizi and again at the corridor entrance, so keep it in a pocket, not at the bottom of a bag you are about to hand in.
The bag ban
Not allowed in the corridor: suitcases of any size, backpacks, rucksacks and large umbrellas. A small umbrella is fine if it fits in a pocket or a handbag. The museum is firm about this: people who arrive with banned items are not admitted and are not refunded. A handbag is the safe limit.
The cloakroom trap
By day the Uffizi has a cloakroom, free for items under 55 × 40 × 20 cm; since 11 May 2026 bulky items cost €2. The trap is that the corridor is one way. You come out across the river in the Boboli Gardens, with no way back into the Uffizi. Anything you left in the cloakroom, or that was held at the metal detector, has to be collected by walking back by road: down Via Guicciardini, over the Ponte Vecchio, right on Lungarno degli Archibusieri, and into Piazzale degli Uffizi. It is not far, but it is a long way to go for a backpack after a day on your feet. Better not to bring one.
Uffizi audio-guides have to be handed back before the corridor. On Friday evenings there is no cloakroom at all, so the rule there is simple: come without a bag that would need one.
Your coat
Keep it with you. You finish on the far side of the Arno, in the Ammannati Courtyard of Palazzo Pitti, and the Uffizi cloakroom is a walk away. The corridor has a new air-conditioning system, so dress for walking rather than for the weather outside.
Camera, yes; video, no
Photos are allowed for personal use. Professional equipment is not, and video is not allowed at all. The group keeps moving, so a phone is enough. More on taking photos.
